Mother Cats Need Your Help!

Five bucks can make all the difference for an animal in need. Before you start your weekend, won't you please consider making a small donation to support new mother cats? It's easy, just click here!

Congratulations to sweet Mumu who gave birth to six beautiful kittens this past Sunday! Mumu was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County as a stray on September 1st after being found hiding under some shrubs here in Ojai. Shortly after she gave birth here in the safety of the shelter. Mumu has just been as sweet as can and when not doting on her babies enjoys receiving attention all her own from staff and volunteers. However, now that she is a new mom, Mumu will be spending time out of the spotlight during these crucial first few weeks of her new kittens lives.

Not long after Mumu's arrival another pregnant mother cat was brought to the shelter as a case surrender who is currently being fostered by our Kennel Manager Angela. Throughout the year, not only the HSVC but rescues and shelters everywhere receive pregnant animals with no home to call their own. Most of these animals have been abandoned by irresponsible owners when they need them the most. Once in our care, these momma cats, dogs, and their babies are given the care, nutrition, medical attention and assistance required during their stay with us. Most importantly each will be spayed or neutered before going off to their forever homes. The HSVC believes that spay and neuter is the most effective way to improve the lives of homeless animals and alleviate the stress on local shelters while preventing future animals from experiencing the harsh reality of overpopulation. In the meantime please make a donation today and help us care for these mother cats and their babies!

No amount is too small to make a big difference in the lives of animals in need.

The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of homeless animals throughout Ventura County. By donating to the HSVC, you'll be part of a community of people who are making a positive impact on the lives of animals in need in Ventura County.

Have a purrfect weekend and thanks for your support!
