Recently, California passed a law that bans pet stores from selling dogs, cats, and rabbits unless they come from animal shelters or rescue groups. The Humane Society of Ventura County invites local pet stores and businesses to learn more about setting up Meet and Greet events with our shelter dogs.
Meet and Greet events are similar to adoption events. While we do not finalize adoptions at Meet and Greet events, we do take applications and start the adoption process. Meet and Greet events are hosted by local businesses that are looking for a way to give back to the community and love animals. It’s easy to set up a meet and greet event too! Simply contact our volunteer coordinator, set a date, time, and have space available for us to set up, and we will provide everything else for the event.
In addition to helping our dogs get adopted, these events allow our dogs to spend the day out of the shelter and the general public gets a chance to see the dogs in a more natural setting.
If you have any questions about our meet and greet events, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator for more information. You can reach her at (805)646-6505 x110 or by email at Volunteer@hsvc.org.
