On Monday, January 15th, the Humane Society of Ventura welcomes the public to come and volunteer in honor of Martin Luther King Junior Day of Service.

During the hours of 10am to 2pm, we will be doing deep cleaning on the shelter grounds from the aftermath of the Thomas Fire. Most of the cleaning will be focused on landscaping and general clean up, so we ask that volunteers be 16 years or older. Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes, pants, and bring gloves. We will provide water, snacks and lunch. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated nationally as a day of service. If you, your family, and friends, would like to support this day of service please send an email to [email protected]

Please note this Day of Service is open to anyone who would like to participate. You do NOT have to be an active volunteer or attend the orientation to pitch in and help make the shelter a happier, cleaner, and safer place for the animals of our community.

  • Must be 16+ or
  • Please bring your own gloves, rakes, shovels or any other small to medium garden tools you may have to use
  • We will provide cold drinks and snacks, don't forget to dress appropriate for the weather!
