Loma Vista Students Enjoy a Fur-tastic Field Trip to HSVC

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a lively group of second graders from Loma Vista Elementary School for a field trip full of fun, learning, and furry friends! The 50+ students spent their morning exploring the shelter and meeting playful pups, curious kitties, and even a few of our gentle horses. Each young animal advocate loved getting to know our shelter pets, and our animals certainly enjoyed the extra attention!

While there was no shortage of animal cuteness, the field trip also offered students the opportunity to learn more about animal welfare. The youngsters were educated about the important role our Humane Officers play and even got a behind-the-scenes look at our new Investigations truck. After an engaging talk from our staff, each student was “sworn in” as a Junior Humane Officer, proudly pledging to speak up for animals and treat all creatures with kindness.

To cap off the visit, the students got creative with a fun crafting session and took home HSVC coloring books to remember their special day. We loved having these bright young animal lovers visit us and hope their experience inspires a lifelong love of animals and a passion for advocacy. Thank you to the wonderful teachers and staff at Loma Vista for making this field trip happen—we can’t wait to see you again soon!
