HSVC Team Aids Wildfire Survivors Via The Local Love Project

We love seeing our community come together for a good cause! Members of VC HART recently partnered with The Local Love Project to distribute donations to pop-up wildfire resource shops across Ventura County. HSVC's Humane Investigations Director, Kendra King, and Equine Manager, Christina Malleck, delivered a horse trailer full of newly donated items to Camarillo to support those affected by the recent wildfires. Special thanks to Local Love Project team members Nick Benavides and their team, Phil, Bobbi, and Bob, for doing all the heavy lifting!

The Local Love Project was founded after the Thomas Fire ripped through Southern California in late 2017. Their mission is to educate the community on disaster preparedness and, in the aftermath of a disaster, respond by providing relief and support throughout the recovery process. Our shelter shares this mission and will continue serving disaster survivors by providing evacuation assistance, animal boarding at no cost to owners, and additional resources as needed.

Those affected by recent wildfires can get assistance by signing up on The Local Love Project's website HERE. Verified wildfire survivors who have signed up with The Local Love Project and 211 will be able to receive free supplies and resources to aid in their recovery. Their organization is also always looking for volunteers to continue serving their community. Visit their volunteer page to sign up today and help victims of local disasters.
