Paulina, now known as Lana, had quite the journey before finding her perfect family. After being surrendered to our Humane Officers in the field, the sweet 8-month-old pup, her siblings, and their brave mama, Shakira, were brought into the shelter in September 2024. HSVC’s dedicated Humane Officers found them in a desperate situation, and the team quickly stepped in to ensure they received the care they needed. At first, the Belgian Malinois family was understandably scared and unsure of the world around them, but with the gentle care and compassion from the staff at HSVC, they began to trust again. Lana's transformation was nothing short of miraculous, and soon enough, her playful and spirited personality began to shine through.

Fast forward to December 2024, when Lana’s future family visited the shelter looking for a dog with energy and a sense of adventure. Lana fit the bill perfectly! Her new mom, Mia, had this to say about the joy she brings to her family's lives, "She’s doing amazing and has such a fun, adventurous spirit. She loves going on walks, hiking, sunbathing, and exploring the outdoors. Lana is also a social butterfly—she enjoys meeting new friends at doggy daycare, chasing her ball, and giving her big brother lots of kisses. She’s brought so much joy into our lives, and we’re so grateful for her. Thank you for helping her find her way to us!"

It’s clear that Lana has found her place in the world, thriving in her loving home, exploring the great outdoors, and making new friends everywhere she goes. From her uncertain beginnings to being a playful, outdoor-loving pup, Lana is living proof of the transformative power of adoption. Stories like Lana’s remind us why we do what we do, and we couldn’t be happier to see her in such a wonderful home.
