Kirby Subaru Hosts HSVC Cares Event

We had so much fun at Saturday's HSVC Cares' free vaccination and adoption event at Kirby Subaru in partnership with the ASPCA! Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and a special shout out to our friends at Kirby for making this event such a success!

Furry friends of all shapes and sizes attended our free vaccination clinic at Kirby Subaru in Ventura. Thanks to our friends at Petco Love, our clinic staff was able to administer free DHPP vaccines to dogs, free FVRCP vaccines to cats, and $5 rabies vaccines. Volunteer students from Ventura College's Vet Tech program also attended to practice their skills giving vaccines. If you missed out on free vaccines, don't worry! We will be hosting another free pet vaccination clinic very soon!

In addition to free vaccinations, Kirby Subaru also hosted an onsite adoption event. We had many adoptable animals in attendance in hopes of finding their forever homes, including adoptable cats and kittens for the first time ever! Sailor, a 5-month-old Husky puppy, even found her new family at the event and is living happily ever after in her new home. Way to go Sailor!

This event would not have been possible without our hardworking shelter staff. Many were in attendance at Saturday's event including Steve, Community Outreach Coordinator (above, left), Angie, Humane Educator (above, middle), and our Humane Officers, Officer King and Officer Utter (above, right). Each department hosted a booth to share with the public more about HSVC's many programs and services.

Event attendees had a blast dressing up their four-legged friends and posing in front of our spooky step-and-repeat. Pet owners! Don't forget to submit your photos to our Halloween pet costume contest for the chance to win a prize! Post a photo of your animal in their favorite costume, tag us on Instagram or Facebook @humanesocietyvc, and you're entered! Entries can also be sent via direct message or via email to [email protected]. We can't wait to see all your boo-tiful costumes!

This event also would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers! We had so many general, junior, and Animal Ambassador volunteers in attendance. From tending to the animals on-site to assisting with our vaccine clinic, we are so grateful to all of our volunteers for sacrificing part of their Saturday to make our event such a success!

If your organization is interested in hosting an HSVC Cares free vaccination clinic or an HSVC adoption event, please contact Community Outreach Coordinator, Steve McCurry, at [email protected] or call the shelter at 805-646-6505.
