Jazzy Finds Her Forever Home!

We are so excited to announce that Jazzy has finally found her forever home with Sarah! Eight-year-old Jasmine, Jazzy for short, was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County after Humane Officers responded to a call regarding a skinny horse in mid-May. Officer King met with the owner who decided it was in Jazzy's best interest to be signed over to the HSVC to find a new home.

Jazzy, a Thoroughbred mare, has had to overcome several obstacles during her time at the HSVC. After being examined by Dr. April Armstrong, DVM, Jazzy was diagnosed with a rectovaginal fistula and would need surgery to repair the injury. She was taken to Humphrey, Giacopuzzi, and Associates Equine Hospital in Somis, CA, for the procedure and made a full recovery. Two months later, Jazzy spent five days at Dr. Armstrong’s lab facility to receive treatment for an infection in her uterus and came out healthier than ever. What can we say, our girl is a fighter!

Jasmine’s new home is a gorgeous facility in Buelton, CA, home of Sarah’s own training business, SRL Sport Horses. With 20 miles of trail access, a mile-long race track, a jumping course, and more, we are sure Jazzy will never be bored in her forever home!

Jazzy’s adoption would not have been possible without the help of our dedicated shelter staff, Dr. Armstrong, DVM, farrier Stacy Hyatt, and the staff at Giacopuzzi, and Associates Equine Hospital. Thank you for never giving up on our girl! We also want to thank everyone who donated to Jazzy’s recovery fund during her time at the shelter. Without your support, she would not have been able to receive the care she needed.

Congratulations, Jazzy!
