Jane Akune, a teacher at Hueneme High School and Pacifica High School, retired after teaching for 31 years. She has always been a pet lover growing up with cats and loving two dogs over the last 26 years. She became interested in animal welfare through a teaching colleague 20 years ago. Joining the Board of HSVC in 2020 has allowed Jane to participate in improving the lives of animals in Ventura County through programs and services such as spay and neuter clinics, dog food supplements, community educational programs, and animal adoptions. She and her husband, Jerry, live in Camarillo.
