Help Shakira and Nova Find the Forever Homes They Deserve!

Shakira and Nova have come a long way since they were brought to the HSVC in September of 2020. Our Humane Officers first met the pair of Siberian Huskies after responding to a call regarding a potential case of abuse and neglect. They found 3-year-old Shakira and 7-year-old Nova severely underweight living with their owner in a vehicle. Humane Officer King worked with the owner for several months to help them get the tools necessary to properly care for their animals. However, they ultimately made the difficult decision to sign the dogs over to our shelter to find new homes.

Upon arrival at the shelter, our Veterinarian, Dr. Sisk, examined the good girls. Despite the situation, both Shakira and Nova seemed to be in high spirits and were very friendly with our staff. They were then bathed and put on a feeding schedule to help them gain weight. We are happy to report that both Shakira and Nova have gained over 20 pounds since being under our care and are now healthier than ever!

Shakira, a gorgeous black and white Siberian Husky, is playful, energetic, and loves to be outdoors. She has been working with our kennel staff every day and has mastered her basic commands (sit, place, etc.). Her hobbies include taking long walks, splashing around in water, and playing with chew toys. Shakira would be the perfect adventure buddy for anyone with an active lifestyle!

Nova may be a bit older than her pal Shakira, but you’d never be able to tell! This stunning white Siberian Husky has lots of energy and would do just about anything for a good belly rub or a tennis ball. An avid lover of fetch, walks, and toys, Nova is a very affectionate girl who wants all your love and attention. She would be an ideal companion for an outdoor adventurer who loves to explore.
