The Humane Society of Ventura County is open and prepared to take in evacuation animals as a result of the heavy rains and flooding throughout the region.

So far we have received 23 horses, 9 cattle, 2 dogs, and 7 chickens and roosters as a result of heavy rains and flooding. All of the animals in our care are doing well and staff and volunteers were here bright and early this morning to get everyone fed. More heavy rain is expected throughout Ventura County and we will continue to take in animals affected by the weather for safekeeping for as long as our services are needed.

As always, the services we offer during emergencies are at absolutely no charge to the families and animals that need our help. If for any reason you feel that you or your animals may be unsafe during the rains, please give us a call at 805-646-6505. We are here to help.

The Humane Society of Ventura County is located at 402 Bryant Street in Ojai.
