Happy Pawlidays Market was Joy on Earth!
We had such a blast this past Saturday at the Happy Pawlidays Market! With sweet treats, animal and home tours, a vintage market, and festive wreath-making classes, there was no shortage of holiday spirit! The best part? HSVC unveiled its new mobile Pet Wellness Clinic! Thank you to Beverlee McGrath for hosting us, and thank you to all who stopped by to spread pawliday cheer for a good cause!
This event was held at the historic Scarlett McGrath home in Oxnard, CA. The house was built on a nearly 5-acre property in 1874, making it a national historic landmark! Guests were invited to explore and enjoy tours inside the home that houses generations of history of the McGrath family that lived there before. It is currently home to Beverlee McGrath, a longtime supporter of the HSVC.
Event attendees were greeted with a wide array of activities to enjoy upon arrival. The holiday market was a festive delight, featuring a delicious hot cocoa booth, enjoyed alongside wine and complimentary snacks by many visitors. Shoppers explored crystalware and gift baskets perfect for the season, while the welcome table offered detailed information about HSVC.
Guests were invited to visit the variety of furry, fluffy, and feathery friends who call the McGrath estate home. The property is also home to Beverlee's nonprofit, Crops and Critters, which advocates for animal welfare. From geese and bunnies to alpacas and goats, these lucky creatures all arrived seeking a safe haven from places of abuse, neglect, and even slaughter.
HSVC was thrilled to officially unveil our new mobile Pet Wellness Clinic at this event! The state-of-the-art vehicle was designed to serve Ventura County by offering mobile vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, and more for animals in need. Visitors were invited by HSVC's Director of Veterinarian Services, Dr. Christina Sisk, to explore the interior of the vehicle and learn more about the services we will be offering.
Those with a creative holiday spirit opted to participate in our first-ever wreath-making fundraiser. The $50 class fee included all the materials needed to make a fresh and fragrant holiday wreath. All proceeds benefitted animals at the shelters, plus attendees each walked away with a stunning wreath of their own style. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Connor Casavan for instructing the class and Hagle Tree Farm in Somis, Ben Hagle and family, and Todd Akune for donating the greens for the wreaths. Thanks to them, we can make the holidays more special for our shelter animals.
