Many in our community will remember the story of Baker, a 2-year-old miniature Poodle who stole hearts after being found as a stray along the highway in mid-February 2024. When he arrived at the shelter, Baker was in rough shape. The good Samaritan who brought him to HSVC found him underweight, extremely matted, suffering from overgrown nails, and battling painful infections in his eyes, ears, and paws. Despite his condition, Baker’s sweet spirit never dimmed. With time, love, and a lot of TLC from our dedicated staff, the sweet pup made a full recovery and found his happily ever after with Thaidra and his new brother, Blue!

Thaidra first spotted Baker’s photo on social media and felt an instant connection. After meeting him in person, she knew the pint-sized Poodle was the one. A quick meet-and-greet with her other dog, Blue, sealed the deal, and Baker's adoption was finalized.

A little over a year later, this lovable goofball is living his best life! Now Biscuit, he's soaking up all the attention, cuddles, and car rides he can get. Biscuit especially enjoys trips to the park and games of fetch, and he’s become quite the ham at home! He and Blue get into all kinds of mischief together, once again proving that his adoption was a match made in heaven. As Thaidra puts it, “Adopting Biscuit was the best decision I made in 2024!” We’re so grateful to Thaidra for giving Biscuit the second chance he so deserved!

Reminder! From August 1st to August 31st, adoption fees will be determined by our Wheel of Adoption, back by popular demand! Those looking to adopt can spin the wheel and take home their new furry family member for a reduced adoption fee. Fees range from $10 to half-price, and all dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens are eligible! Excludes horses.
