Bright-eyed and strong-willed Beauty has finally found the happily ever after she deserves! She is thriving with her new mama, Alanna, and has become a symbol of hope and resilience for all who know her story. The 16-year-old Quarterhorse was fighting for her life when she was surrendered to our Humane Officers during a cruelty investigation. She was severely underweight and suffering from a skin condition called rain rot, which covered much of her body. Despite her condition, a spark remained in the mare's eyes. Over time, Beauty's wounds faded, her weight returned, and her spirit began to shine through. That spirit, along with her stunning good looks and sweet personality, landed Beauty the best forever home we could've dreamed of!

When our Humane Officers began investigating a concern for a neglected horse, it became clear that Beauty had weathered more than her fair share of hardship. The sweet horse was emaciated, weak, and suffering from an aggressive case of rain rot that covered much of her body. After working with our Humane Officers, Beauty's previous owner decided it was in her best interest to be signed over to the shelter. She was transferred to HSVC and began her journey to recovery. With dedicated medical care, a tailored nutrition plan, and plenty of love and patience from our staff, Beauty began to heal. 

As time went on, Beauty's condition improved, and she quickly captured the hearts of our staff and equine volunteers. She's pictured above with one of HSVC's dedicated equine volunteers, Emily. 

Soon enough, Beauty's condition improved enough for staff to make her available for adoption. It didn’t take long for Alanna to see the potential in the gorgeous mare. What started as an adoption inquiry soon blossomed into something more. With Alanna’s dedication and training, Beauty went from surviving to thriving.

“Last night, I had her trotting and loping over poles and working the barrel pattern,” Alanna shared. “She's doing so well and has improved immensely. We have built a ton of trust, respect, and communication, and she is thriving. I love her!”

There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing an animal in need finally get the second chance they deserve. Beauty’s transformation is a testament to what love, time, and a little faith can do. We’re so proud of this incredible mare and grateful to Alanna for giving her the home and future she so deeply deserves! Welcome home, Beauty!
