Five Dollar Friday - Help Cover The Cost Of Mela's Surgery

Five Dollar Fridays!

Mela was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County on January 15th after being pulled from a high kill shelter by a private rescue group. Mela is an absolute doll but has a medical condition that requires the support of our community to get her back on her feet.

Mela has hip dysplasia that is causing her discomfort and limits the use of her back leg. Hip dysplasia in dogs is a disease where the ball and socket joint is malformed. This means that the ball portion and its socket don’t properly meet one another, resulting in a joint that rubs and grinds causing pain. Mela has seen two separate veterinarians since her arrival and most likely surgery will be necessary. It is our hope to not only get Mela the care she requires to keep her smiling but also to find a quiet home for her that can meet her needs as she recovers.

Mela has already beaten the odds in many ways and now she needs our help. We have received an estimate of $1200 to perform the surgery, this amount does not include her after care. Please follow the link if you would like to donate to the cost of Mela’s surgery. No amount is too small!

Mela is a 4 year old Australian Cattle dog.
