Five Dollar Friday - Help Marley Find the Perfect Home!

Marley, a beautiful sable and white, Border Collie and Shepherd mix, is on the lookout for the perfect new home. This stunning girl was surrendered to the Humane Society of Ventura County on August 4th, when her original owner no longer had the time to properly care for her.

Marley is a very high energy dog with a catalog of tricks up her sleeve. Her breed and high intelligence demand a very active lifestyle and an owner who can keep her healthy both physically and mentally. Fortunately, at the HSVC, we have a large agility yard where our staff and volunteers can engage with Marley in a stimulating environment until we can find her a home where her needs can be met.

Marley's story is one we see at the shelter far to often. People adopt dogs when they are puppies and are not prepared for the high level of care they will require as they grow. Young dogs, of any breed, necessitate a level of physical activity that many people do not have the ability to provide. A few of these demands include regular training, multiple walks throughout the day, and proper socializing. These actions are imperative in order for puppies to grow into happy and well-rounded adults. It is not uncommon for dogs to be surrendered to shelters at 6 months to a year old when they have become too large or energetic for their owner to handle.

Marley is one and a half years old and has her whole life ahead of her! We recommend anyone interested in Marley to visit her at the shelter multiple times to make sure they can provide her with the life necessary for her to continue to be happy and healthy. In the meantime won't you please make a donation to help dogs like Marley find the perfect home?
