Five Dollar Friday - A Home for Amber Rose

One of the things that makes the Humane Society of Ventura County so unique is its ability to house and rehabilitate neglected and abused horses and other livestock on its 4.4 acre property in Ojai.

Ventura County Humane Officers, whose headquarters are located at the shelter, are dedicated to getting these animals to a safe place and prepared for loving homes. Once here our staff works hard to care for these animals during their stay at the shelter.

This beautiful sorrel Thoroughbred is Amber Rose. Amber Rose was brought to the shelter on March 26thof last year by our Humane Officers. When she arrived she was extremely emaciated but has since gotten back up to a healthy weight. Since her recovery she has become one lively girl. Officer T. Vail describes her as "small and mighty and full of energy". Amber Rose has bonded with her caretakers and has regained the natural ability to show affection. Amber Rose has had no formal training but will be a great match for someone looking for a "green" horse with tons of potential.

Amber Rose is a 5 year old, sorrel Thoroughbred, who is 15 hands tall. If you are interested in learning more about her please call the shelter at 805-646-6505 to set up an appointment to meet her.
