HSVC Gets a Special Visit from Fenix Lumiere!
Our shelter recently had a truly special visitor—none other than Fenix Lumiere,The Happy Dog! Fenix has captured hearts worldwide with his infectious smile, boundless energy, and one-of-a-kind prance. The neurologically disabled Husky mix visited HSVC for a play date with Pepper, a nearly 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix currently available for adoption. The two pups had an absolute blast, chasing each other across the play yard, tails wagging in unison. It was a sight to see—pure happiness in motion!
Fenix's story is one of inspiration. Once a rescue dog himself, Fenix was almost euthanized due to a brain disorder that causes him to walk in a slow, wobbly manner. However, his adoptive mom, Dr. Zoe Lumiere, saw Fenix's potential and helped him become a symbol of happiness and hope. His signature grin and playful spirit have made him a beloved figure in the animal welfare community.
During his visit, Fenix met Pepper, one of our wonderful adoptable shelter dogs. Pepper, a spunky pup with a heart full of love, was thrilled to have such a famous friend to romp around with. According to Dr. Zoe, Fenix usually gets left behind during dog play due to his condition. Such was not the case with our girl Pepper! Fenix gained confidence and truly came alive as she chased him around a large playyard. Fenix’s visit wasn’t just fun for Pepper; it brought a wave of joy to our staff and volunteers as well. Watching these two dogs embrace the simple pleasure of play reminded us why we do what we do—helping animals find the love and happiness they deserve.
Seeing Pepper’s playful side shine alongside Fenix made it clear that she is ready for a forever home of her own! She’s full of love, energy, and affection. We're just waiting for the right family to come along. Those interested in adding Pepper to their family can stop by the shelter to meet her. We are located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, CA and visiting hours are from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
A huge thank you to Fenix Lumière for bringing his signature joy to our shelter! His visit was a reminder of the incredible impact rescue dogs can have on the world—and how every shelter pet, just like Pepper, has the potential to be someone’s best friend.
