Pet of the Week - Demi

Say hello to Demi! This gorgeous girl was recently transferred to the HSVC through our rescue partners at Kern County Animal Services. Three-year-old Demi was a little shy when she first arrived, but she quickly opened up and became such a friendly girl! Though we do not know Demi's full medical history, we do know she has previously had at least one litter of puppies. However, that doesn't seem to stop her from having puppy energy herself! She loves running around in our agility yard and will sit by your side for hours for head scratches. Plus, she's absolutely gorgeous!

Canela is very nervous around new friends and prefers snuggling up in her hidey-hole to free roaming. Her perfect home would be in a quiet, cozy space with a patient owner who is willing to give her the time she needs to adjust.

His owner, a single mother of four children and first responder, faced many challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unable to give him the care he required, Prowler’s owner took him to live with her mother in Santa Paula in July of 2020. He resided there happily until mid-January of 2021 when her mother lost her home during a high wind storm. Realizing she no longer had a place for herself to live, let alone a dog, her mother was forced to surrender Prowler to our shelter to find a new home.
