That's a wrap on our Clear the Shelters 2025 adoption event! From free treats and face painting to countless fee-waived adoptions, we want to thank everyone who came out to support the shelter! Thirteen lucky furry friends found their forever homes throughout the day, and we couldn't be happier for them!

Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped more than 1 million pets get adopted from shelters and rescues across the country. This life-saving campaign, spearheaded by NBCUniversal Local, unites communities with the goal of emptying the shelters and filling hearts. Our shelter was proud to once again participate in this incredible adoption movement along with Greater Good Charities and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

There was no shortage of fun to be had at the shelter this past Saturday! Attendees embraced their creative side while coloring custom pictures of our adoptable shelter dogs and partaking in free face painting. Mister Softee provided free frozen treats to all animal lovers in attendance, and our staff offered free pet food for furry friends.

Our friends JoEllen and Fran from Pinholita Coffee Van and Bake Ojai (above, left) set up shop in HSVC's parking lot, offering attendees delicious drinks and baked goods. As an added bonus, adoptable dogs Sam, Grace, and Winston roamed around, providing guests with free kisses and quickly capturing hearts. It was a day of fun, friends, and forever families!

If you missed the chance to bring a furry friend home for free, don't worry! There's still an opportunity to adopt a pet for a discounted fee with our spin the Wheel of Adoption promotion, happening through the end of the month! Stop by the shelter any time during visiting hours, Monday through Saturday, between 10 am and 4:30 pm, and spin the wheel for a reduced adoption fee ranging from $10 to half price.
