Our first-ever Clear the Shelters Fee-Waived Adoption Event was a huge success! Sixteen shelter animals found their forever homes over the course of the 2-day event and we couldn't be happier! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the shelter and rescue a furry friend in need!

HSVC was proud to participate in Clear the Shelters 2023, a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that helps find loving homes for shelter animals. We were able to find loving forever homes for 14 felines and two dogs, and we're not stopping there! The shelter is still offering a variety of adoption specials throughout August in hopes of finding even more animals their dream homes. One-year-old Mona Lisa (pictured left) was lucky enough to find her home with Perry Van Houten, Senior Reporter for Ojai Valley News, during the event. Perry wrote an article about HSVC's Clear the Shelter efforts that ran locally Friday morning. He visited the shelter to drop off copies of the newspaper at the beginning of our event and instantly fell in love with the gorgeous tortie. It was meant to be!

Other animals who found their forever homes at our event include 2-month-old Bonbon (pictured above, left), 2-year-old Charlie with Danny (above, left center), 2-month-old Charon with Aimee (above, right center), 3-month-old siblings Chonk and Charlie with Jamie and Jorgia, and many more!

"The Board and I couldn’t be prouder of our first fee-waived adoption event for Clear the Shelters. The staff and volunteers are very busy all the time, and this was driven by them, they’re the ones who came together and said 'How can we?' and made it happen. This year’s event was a success when it comes to adoptions, and how everyone came together for a resonant, impactful event. This staff is amazing, and I heard wonderful feedback from the community. I already can’t wait for next year’s Clear the Shelters event, we may just have to do it again sooner!" said HSVC Executive Director Eric Knight.
