Update on our Recent Case Horses

Last week, the Humane Society of Ventura County took in four neglected horses at our Shelter, located in Ojai. Their conditions have improved dramatically since their arrival, according to HSVC Equine Specialist Christie Tracy. “A whole lot of love and proper feeding goes a long way,” said Tracy. She notes that all four horses are thankful to be here and that they are adjusting to their new surroundings. “The baby is doing great, she is happy to be able to run around and lay out in the sun." After daily bathing, ample water and a proper diet, the most evident change is in the appearance of their coats. Tracy continues, “Caring for these animals who have endured so much at their previous home, knowing that they are getting the best care here, is the most rewarding part of my job.”

We are grateful for all the in-kind donations and financial support for the care of these animals. It will cost the HSVC $150 for daily care these four horses, not including veterinarian or farrier services. Financial donations in support of the care we provide to the animals at the Shelter can be made on out website, https://www.hsvc.org/donate

We have updated our Amazon Wishlist with items in immediate need to support these horses. You can find the link here https://smile.amazon.com/…/ls/2LHNG8JV4F1V0/ref=cm_go_nav_hz

“All of us at the HSVC are super grateful for those who have supported us in the care of these horses including the volunteers, donors and daily visitors,” said Tracy.
