Beat the Heat with Pupsicles!
Ojai has been particularly hot for the past two months and the Humane Society of Ventura County has not been spared. The animals in the care of the HSVC have been looked after closely by the staff and volunteers during the extreme heat.
Denise Cotton, a volunteer with the HSVC, delivered home-made dog treats made of ice and peanut butter that she calls pupsicles to the dogs at the shelter this week. Denise, who has been volunteering for about two years said that she finds this rewarding to treat the dogs, especially on the hot days during the summer. “Having dedicated volunteers like Denise and others who care for the animals means a great deal to us,” said Greg Cooper, Director of Community Outreach for the HSVC.
