Save the Date! ARF to Welcome Turtle Conservancy & Ojai Valley Library

Save the date! In celebration of National Literacy Month, our friends at The Turtle Conservancy and Ojai Valley Library will be joining us on Saturday, September 3rd, for our Animal Reading Friends (ARF) event! This event is intended to promote literacy, learning about animals through books, and reading to shelter animals.

Join us at the shelter at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, CA, from 10 am - 12:30 pm to read to our shelter animals. The first 20 registered ARF attendees will also receive a fun animal activity book. See the link below to register. Reminder! ARF events take place outdoors at the shelter. Be sure to use appropriate sun protection, bring a reusable water bottle, and a towel or blanket to sit on. We will provide books to read, but feel free to bring your favorites!

The first 20 to register by Aug 31st, will receive a free book appropriate for ages 5-8:

  • Read Aloud from Humane Educator, Angie, and Manci of The Turtle Conservancy (and tortoise friend)

  • Read to shelter animals and a tortoise
  • Sign up for a library card
  • Learn more about the Turtle Conservancy
