ARC Enjoys Fun at the Shelter
HSVC's second "Fun at the Shelter" event last week was a blast! HSVC hosted a group of 18 animal lovers from ARC Ojai Enrichment Center for an afternoon of games and entertainment. Three HSVC Board members were also in attendance to join in on the fun!
HSVC's Paws for People Pet Therapy Program puts this event on at the shelter in Ojai once a month. Programs Director Arlene MacSween and Administrative Assistant Judy Robertson invite residents from local care facilities to join for an hour of animal education, special guests, games, snacks, and laughter.
This month, educational entertainment was provided by dog trainer Lucy Grace and her two performing Shelties, Harry and Archie. The pair of pups wowed the audience with their intelligence, dashing good looks, and repertoire of tricks.
(Left) The ARC group also enjoyed a cameo appearance by Papaya, a sweet Bunny Brigade adoptee owned by HSVC's Director of Development, Amber Landis. Papaya was a big hit and "hoppy" to make his rounds among the participants enjoying gentle pets and love.
If your care group would like to participate in our Fun at the Shelter program, please contact Arlene MacSween via email at [email protected].
