CalAnimals, the ASPCA, and the San Francisco SPCA have joined forces to promote the human-animal bond throughout California. Their collaboration has led to the creation of the first-ever California Adopt-a-Pet Day, aimed at increasing awareness and making pet adoptions more affordable and accessible. This day is not just an annual event; it also celebrates the wonderful bond between humans and animals. It's a day that holds the promise of countless moments of joy and love, just waiting to be a part of your family. 

The statewide adoption day will feature more than 150 California animal welfare sites, including the HSVC, offering free adoptions to find homes. California Adopt-a-Pet Day is a crucial effort to shed light on the heartbreaking overcrowding issues in shelters across the state. Shelters are struggling with a sudden surge of animals, mainly due to the scarcity of veterinary professionals and other challenges like rising costs and limitations on pet-friendly housing.
