From his first wobbly steps in our barn to his confident gallops across the pasture, our sweet baby colt has been stealing hearts since the day he was born. On the beautiful morning of May 17th, 2025, Jazmine welcomed her adorable foal, whom we all now know as Abu, into the world, and together they have been a source of endless joy for our staff and volunteers here at the Humane Society of Ventura County.

Now, we are thrilled to share that this handsome young horse has found his forever home with someone who has loved him since the very beginning! Abu, lovingly renamed Finn, was adopted by none other than our very own HSVC Equine Manager, Christina, who has been by his side every step of the way since day one. From halter training and brushing sessions to playful pasture time, Christina has guided Finn through every milestone of his young life. Their bond quickly grew into something special, the kind of connection that could only be described as fate. As Christina shared, "He's been my little shadow since the day he was born. I couldn't imagine not having him in my life."

Finn is now thriving in his new home under Christina's loving care, growing up with other babies his age, where he will continue to learn and explore with the same curious, spirited energy that made him a staff favorite. His story is a heartfelt reminder that sometimes the animals we rescue end up rescuing us right back.

Meanwhile, his wonderful biological mama, Jazmine, is now available for adoption! After diligently raising her colt, she's ready to find a forever home of her own. Jazmine is a calm, gentle mare with a kind soul who deserves a person to call her own, just like Finn found his. Stay tuned for more information on Jazmine, coming soon!
