A Whole New World: HSVC Welcomes Foal Abu

Jasmine is experiencing a whole new world these days—the world of motherhood! We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of her new addition, an adorable colt named Abu, born on May 17th, 2025. Both mama and baby are happy, healthy, and soaking up all the attention from our loving staff. Welcome to the world, Abu!

   

Jasmine, a gentle 11-year-old mare, came to our shelter as part of a remarkable rescue effort. She was one of eight pregnant mares saved from euthanasia by a compassionate woman who refused to let them face an uncertain fate. Her kindness gave the sweet mares the second chance they deserved. Thanks to the group of young horse lovers who named her Jasmine after the beloved princess from Disney’s Aladdin, her little boy was loving dubbed Abu to stay on theme.

Now three-weeks-old, Abu has begun showing off his fun and bouncy personality. He's become a social butterfly who loves people, especially when they give him scratches. He's also a huge mama's boy! The clumsy colt is constantly following Jasmine around to see what she's up to. When they need to get a little extra energy out, our staff turns them out in the pasture together, and they both have a blast. Abu is also starting his halter training and is doing fantastic!

For now, Jazmine and baby Abu will continue to receive all the care and love they need from our dedicated staff. They are not currently available for adoption, and we do not take deposits or hold animals in advance. We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated as this sweet pair continues their journey!
