It is always a special day here at the Humane Society of Ventura County when a horse gets adopted. Ten year old Sweet Pea, who was originally brought to the shelter by our Humane Officers as a case horse back in 2008 when she was just a year old, got a fresh start on life last week with Abigail!

In the past ten years, since Sweet Pea was originally brought to the shelter as a neglect case, this sweet horse had been adopted out. However, with all animals in our care, we make a lifelong commitment to their well being and when Sweet Pea's previous family could not continue with her care, she was brought back to us so we could match her with the perfect home. In the week since Abigail adopted Sweet Pea we have already received several updates and are thrilled to hear she is thriving in her new home. Thank you Abigail for adopting this great horse!
