Fire Update: 11/22

By Franki Williams

Good morning friends. As the containment of the Woolsey fire gets under control we know that many of our new friends who are able to pick up their animals are looking forward to doing so. We are kindly requesting anyone who wishes to pick up their animal to please call the shelter first to arrange a time so that we can have your paperwork ready. This is especially important for those picking up large animals, such as horses and goats, so that our equine team is available to assist you and we can avoid any heavy traffic jams with trailers entering and exiting the property. Unless otherwise arranged we ask that all animal pickups take place between 10 am and 4 pm. For those unable to pick up their animals please know that they are in safe hands. We will continue to care for the evacuee animals entrusted to us as long as needed. Thank you. For assistance please call the shelter at 805-646-6505.

Thank You Friends!

By Franki Williams

Thank you to all our friends for your generosity and support! Many people have found that when they visit our Amazon Wishlist there is nothing there. Our supporters have been clearing out our wishlist as fast as we can add to it. We encourage those wishing to donate supplies to check back in a day or two as we continue to update our needs for our long-term recovery. Thank you!

From Rescue to Recovery

By Franki Williams

The immediacy of the Hill and Woolsey fires has abated and the Humane Society of Ventura County is transitioning into a recovery mode. The tremendous outpouring of support from the community has been humbling. Our short-term needs have been met but now we look to the future. Needless to say, we could not have been able to care for the animals without your support.

Thank You Shoreline Equine

By Franki Williams

Thank you to April D. Armstrong D.V.M and Lisa Carter from Shoreline Equine Veterinary in Ventura, for coming out to the shelter this afternoon to check on four of the horses in our care. Pictured is one of the horses that was rescued by our Animal Emergency Rescue Team from a burnt down property in Malibu. April and Lisa, along with our HSVC staff, continued treatment on the horse's burns and face to help make the horse more comfortable as he heals. Thank you both for your help!
