Humane Officers brought in a Brahma bull, a bull calf, two heifers and six horses from a ranch in Moorpark on 12/9/14. All animals are considered emaciated and are now in protective custody of the Humane Society of Ventura County. We are currently housing 5 other horses from three different cases that are now pending charges.
Hi I'm Marsha! I'm a female, white and black Domestic Shorthair. I am about 4 months old, and I have been at the HSVC since Oct 01, 2014.
Did you know that we depend entirely on our communities support for our organization to operate? YOU ARE IT. The Humane Society of Ventura County is a private, non-profit organization. We receive no direct financial assistance from city, county, state agencies or National Animal Welfare Organizations. Fundraising events, grants, bequests, investments, supporters and your very important donations are our only sources of income. We truly appreciate your love, concern and support for our Shelter animals and the community outreach services the Humane Society provides. Approximately 95 percent of the contributions we receive are spent on programs and services that directly benefit animals
With the holidays right around the corner, we know there will be plenty of opportunities for your pets to get into some mischief. While there are several safe human foods that animals can eat, the holidays also have quite a few hidden dangers.
Violet, now named Sweet Pea, is a real sweetheart who came in as a stray in mid-November along with her puppy, Poppy. This mother and daughter were found wandering by the side of the road eating trash.
Humane Society of Ventura County’s Board of Directors surprised the Humane Officers and staff with an early holiday gift that will help the animals throughout the County. They announced today the addition of a new, specially-equipped Investigations Vehicle. The vehicle, a Chevrolet Cargo Van, was purchased from Paradise Chevrolet in Ventura.
Meet Snoopy! Snoopy was seized in the field by our Humane Officers back in early August. They had received an anonymous tip from a concerned neighbor of a dog who was tied tightly to a tree with no food or water for several days. Officer Hoffman says that when she arrived on the scene “Snoopy leaped into her lap and was very excited to see her!”.
