The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
This pretty gal is Lil. Lil is a gorgeous 12 year old Red Roan/Appaloosa mare with striking markings. She was one of three horses impounded on September 6, 2014 by our Humane Officers. Since arriving at the Humane Society Lil has improved greatly and is now at an adequate weight.
The staff and animals of the Humane Society of Ventura County would like to wish you all a happy and safe holidays. Because of YOU, we are able to be there when animals in our community need us. There's always something new and exciting going on at HSVC! Yesterday these two loves were surrendered to our Humane Officers in the field. ROSA: Rosa is a Yellow Nape Amazon Parrot. She is between 18-20 years old. She is very sweet, has been handled a lot and loves both men and women (not sure about children). Her favorite treat is peanuts. Rosa loves to sing and has the sweetest giggle, AND she's bilingual! Rosa knows mostly Spanish but can speak a few words in English as well.
Meet Porter! Porter is currently one of our longest dog residents at the shelter, and nobody knows why! Porter is a male Chihuahua, who is about 1 and a half years old. He has been at the Humane Society since April 07, 2014.
The Humane Society of Ventura County is asking for the public’s help in order to care for and feed 10 neglected animals recently rescued from a ranch in Moorpark. On December 9th, Humane Society Officers brought into protective custody two Brahma bulls, two Heifers and six horses. Most of the animals are considered emaciated and are being housed at HSVC’s shelter in Ojai.
Maggie (another unclaimed stray) stole our hearts! She spent every day up in the Administration building in her comfy bed by the fireplace. We needed to keep a close eye on her because she was very overweight at 96 pounds and we wanted to be sure she was healthy before putting her up for adoption.
