Zoey & Olive - Pets of the Month

By Amanda Volden

Zoey and Olive are inseparable sweethearts! They are female, 7-year-old, Chihuahuas! They may need some time to warm up, but if you sit down, they will both hop right into your lap! Olive (Black) is friendlier at first, but Zoey is the one with the opinion that needs to be heard! (Talk about spunk! As you can see by her "tough-but-lovable" face in her picture below!) These girls are not your typical Chihuahuas! They are both very well trained! Both of these girls sit and lay down on a dime,(at your command) and they come when called! (Even when Olive got out of an open door, we calmly called her by name, and she came back into her pen.) Both of these lovely ladies walk well on a leash and they simply adore people and attention! These girls do not require much maintenance and will be content to keep a senior company or sleep at your feet while you work. Come meet these two gems today! Lets keep them together!

Twenty Six Cats Rescued in Ventura County

By Amanda Volden

Last Friday HSVC Humane Officers rescued 26 cats from a hoarding case in Ventura County. After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen the officers found the cats, including 10 kittens, living in unsanitary conditions. The cats were signed over to the officers in the field and all 26 were immediately taken to a veterinarian to receive medical attention. Afterwards they were transported to the Humane Society of Ventura County where they remain in our care. The cats are currently under observation and on medication to get them back in good health. The cats are doing well and we will keep you updated for when they will become available for adoption.

New Jump Pen!

By Amanda Volden

Our buddy Bryant checking out the new jump pen! Thanks to Sue & Alex Saraceno for donating the funds and organizing the improvements to one of our old dog yards and Pacific Iron & Steel for the awesome job! Previously, the HSVC only had one jump pen, which was used predominantly for dogs who can jump or climb out of anything. We are so pleased to have a second pen, constructed to be safe and secure for these little Houdini's! Thank you!
