The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
Every Wednesday, volunteers from our Pet Assisted Therapy Program visit retirement homes and hospice care facilities throughout Ojai with their pets. They spend time with the residents giving them the opportunity to enjoy one-on-one time with the animals. At some facilities the residents enjoy playing catch with the dogs out in the courtyard, who fetch and bring the ball back and drop them in awaiting laps.
The Humane Society of Ventura County staff shed tears while saying farewell to Tommy as he was loaded into a trailer to be taken to his new forever home with Anne Scoscia.
Please join us in congratulating the honorees for this years 2018 Women of the Year Award! Last night, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson and Assemblymember Monique Limón, honored women first responders from Ventura County for their bravery and service to the community during the Thomas Fire.
Over the weekend Kevin and Sylvana stopped by the Humane Society of Ventura County to hand deliver a generous donation and kind letter to the shelter. Kevin, Sylvana, and their two dogs Wilson and Casey, lost their home and belongings during the Thomas Fire that burned throughout the area in December.
Special thanks to Gianna for her donation of a Pet Oxygen Mask Kit to the Humane Society of Ventura County. Gianna along with her mother Leisa, presented the gift to our Director of Community Outreach Greg Cooper last week.
Summer is around the corner and do you know what that means? It’s time to sign-up for Animal Adventure Camp held at the Humane Society of Ventura County in Ojai! This year the Humane Society will be offering 3 – 1 week camps for 9 – 12 year olds (4th – 6th grade).
A big thanks to the Ojai Valley Woman’s Club who donated $500 to the Humane Society of Ventura County at a recent board meeting. Pat Essick, President, presented checks to the HSVC and four other local nonprofit organizations who offered assistance during the Thomas Fire.
Thank you to everyone who has shown their support for Handsome Jack! This past Friday The Humane Society of Ventura County kicked off a campaign to raise $6500 to cover Jack's medical expenses and since then our supporters have already raised $3830! We are beyond humbled by your support and are looking forward to keeping everyone updated as Jack improves.
