ABOUT
4H Hearts at Work

At HSVC, we believe that compassion is a valuable skill best learned at an early age. Recently, a special group of young animal lovers from Heritage 4-H proved just how powerful that lesson can be. Students from Heritage 4-H's sewing club, ranging in age and experience, visited our shelter to donate handmade blankets they had lovingly crafted for our shelter animals. Each blanket was sewn with care, and the thoughtfulness behind each stitch was as evident as the students' love for furry friends!

After delivering the blankets, the group had a chance to meet the very animals they were helping. They spent time visiting with our adoptable dogs and cats, seeing firsthand how their gifts would provide warmth and comfort to animals in need. The students' excitement lit up the shelter, and our furry friends clearly appreciated the attention!
The visit didn’t stop there. After spending time in the kennels and cat rooms, the students made their way down to the barn to meet our equine residents and learn more about our horse rescue program. Equine Manager Christina Malleck welcomed the students and introduced them to Jasmine, a beautiful rescue horse who was pregnant at the time of their visit. Christina shared insights about horse care, rescue, and the important work HSVC does to rehabilitate and rehome equines.
The visit was not only an opportunity to give back but also a hands-on learning experience for the 4-H youth, reinforcing the values of empathy, service, and responsibility toward animals of all kinds. We’re so grateful to the Heritage 4-H sewing club for their heartfelt contribution and for taking the time to learn about animal welfare in our community. Thank you, Heritage 4-H, we can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!
