Thank You Volunteers!

We would like to give a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who came to the shelter yesterday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. to help clean up the grounds . Martin Luther King Jr. Day is known as a day of service and many individuals spend this day giving back to their community.

We had nearly two dozen volunteers stop by and give much needed love and attention to the shelter. After nearly quadrupling the number of animals in our care in response to the Thomas Fire last month and the recent rains the shelter was in much need of some serious TLC. Volunteers cleaned and organized feed areas, cleaned up the yards that housed Thomas Fire evacuees, tidied up the hay and horse barn, straightened up and relocated corral panels, and much more! Their hard work ensures the animals currently in our care and all the future animals that will find themselves at the shelter through no fault of their own will have clean and comfortable lodging until they can be placed into loving homes.

Thank you all for your dedication to animals in need. The shelter grounds look amazing! If you are interested in volunteering for The Humane Society of Ventura County, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator via email at [email protected].
