It’s hard to believe it is already July! Time sure sneaks up on us. If you are in search of some last minute quality activities for your kids we have the solution! The Humane Society of Ventura County offers a variety of fun, service and learning oriented camp sessions for various age groups between 7 and 15. An array of topics are covered in these camps and include hands on work with shelter animals as well as information about animals in the wild both locally and around the world.

All camps include:

  • Hands on work with Shelter Animals
  • Animal related art and craft projects to take home
  • Snacks and drinks
  • A camp T-shirt
  • Memories to last a lifetime!

The following camps still have spaces available:

Camp #4    July 13th-17thCamp for 9-12 years  (10:00 am-2:30 pm)

Topic: Rainforest, Environmental impact $135

This is a good camp for those interested in making an impact on our environment and rainforest habitats around the world. We will discuss leaving as small of a footprint as possible on Earth and make paper from junk mail. A few animals from around the world will visit. Preserving the planet for all plants and animals will be a focus. A project for this camp will be making environmental and nature arts and crafts. We will work with cats and dogs as usual at the shelter on behavior, socialization, and obedience.

Camp #5    July 22nd -24th 3 Days Wed.-Fri. Camp for ages 7-9 years.(10:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Topic: ALL ANIMALS $80

A 3 day camp that focuses on being safe with dogs and cats at the shelter and learning about all kinds of animals kept as pets. We will talk about animal care and proper ways to play with them.  We will make homes or feeders for wild animals around our homes and the shelter, and create posters about keeping animals safe. This is a good introduction camp on learning how to help animals and how to become a responsible pet caretaker.
