Pet of the Month - Sequoia

sequioa.2.jpg

Sequoia was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County on April 30, 2016 as a stray after being found wandering a nearby highway. She waited at the shelter for her previous owner to claim her, but as it often happens, no one came for this sweet girl. Fortunately, now that the stray period has passed, Sequoia will have a second chance at a new life.

Pet of the Month - Harold

harold.2.jpg

Hello friends, my name is Harold!

I am a purebred German Shepherd and am around 2 years old. My friends at the Humane Society tell me I am a handsome boy-I agree! I have been spending time with the shelter staff, volunteers, and the Humane Officer who rescued me. They are teaching me good manners - I like it when they tell me what a good boy I am! I have learned how to sit and lay down on command. With the proper training I can learn to walk perfectly by your side.

I am a big boy - already over 75 pounds! I would do best in a home with some one that is ready and committed to having a big dog. I am really good at making friends with people and other dogs- you might say I'm a pretty popular guy. I look forward to finding an owner that is ready to work with a trainer, and take me on lots of adventures!

Thank you everyone-hope to meet my new family soon!

Hugs,

Harold

Pet of the Month - Kudo

KUDO.jpg

All Kudo wants in life is companionship. This handsome 4 year old Labrador Retriever and Cattle dog mix is all about love and friendship, and he has a ton to give! Kudo originally came in as a stray with cuts on his face and head and a skin irritation. We were able to locate the previous owners and they felt it would be best for Kudo if they surrendered him to us.

Zoey & Olive - Pets of the Month

IMG_7223.JPG

Zoey and Olive are inseparable sweethearts! They are female, 7-year-old, Chihuahuas! They may need some time to warm up, but if you sit down, they will both hop right into your lap! Olive (Black) is friendlier at first, but Zoey is the one with the opinion that needs to be heard! (Talk about spunk! As you can see by her "tough-but-lovable" face in her picture below!) These girls are not your typical Chihuahuas! They are both very well trained! Both of these girls sit and lay down on a dime,(at your command) and they come when called! (Even when Olive got out of an open door, we calmly called her by name, and she came back into her pen.) Both of these lovely ladies walk well on a leash and they simply adore people and attention! These girls do not require much maintenance and will be content to keep a senior company or sleep at your feet while you work. Come meet these two gems today! Lets keep them together!

Snoopy - Pet of the Month!

Snoopy_-_WEB.jpg

Meet Snoopy! Snoopy was seized in the field by our Humane Officers back in early August. They had received an anonymous tip from a concerned neighbor of a dog who was tied tightly to a tree with no food or water for several days. Officer Hoffman says that when she arrived on the scene “Snoopy leaped into her lap and was very excited to see her!”.

Cash, Pet of the Month!

image004.jpgCash is a male, black and white, Domestic Shorthair. (His tummy has a white patch) Cash is only 1 and a half and has been at the Humane Society since Oct 29, 2013. Cash gets along well with the cats in the cat room, which means he is sharing his space with 5 to 15 other cats at any given time! Cash is easy to miss, but he is an absolute sweetheart. Once he knows you he will politely request to be petted! He also loves naps! He likes being held too! Why not give Cash a home all his own?

Cash’s adoption fee is $120 and includes the first FVRCP shot in the series, a leukemia test (if age allows), rabies vaccine, a medical exam good for up to three days from participating veterinarians, deworming, implanting an identification microchip (registration extra), spay or neuter surgery if necessary as well as a safety collar, ID tag and a cardboard carrier.

Bandit - Pet of the Month

IMG_9589.JPG

This playful guy is Bandit. Bandit is a two-year-old, Chihuahua and Cocker Spaniel mix.  Bandit has been at the Humane Society since February 24, 2014.

Bandit is a smart, affectionate, playful young fella who loves human (and dog) interaction.  He does very well with most dogs and walks well on a leash. Bandit is fairly mellow, but he loves toys and walks! He will need some more work on housebreaking. He is often overlooked because he can be quite timid if he doesn't know you, that's an easy fix! Anyone interested in making Bandit their new best friend will need to spend a little time with him here at the shelter so he can get to know you. Once you have bonded we guarantee you will have a friend for life! Bandit is very, very sweet! Just look at that smile!

All adoptions from the HSVC include spay/neuter, vaccinations, free veterinarian visit, and microchip implantation. For more information on Bandit, or other adoptable animals, please call 805 646-6505. You can meet them Monday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
