Behaviors such as hyper arousal, stress, anxiety, depression, and compulsive disorders are all commonly developed by dogs who spend extended amounts of time at a shelter.

Reunited: The Importance of Microchipping Your Animal

Earlier this month, an Ojai resident brought a lost cat in to the Humane Society of Ventura County. The cat was immediately scanned for a microchip to see if it was in the system. To our surprise, the cat was chipped, and our staff soon learned that her name was Bella. The staff didn’t know, however, that Bella was about to be a part of an unbelievable reunion story.

HSVC Pet Food Bank: Help Us Help Those in Need

A big thank you goes out to Meko and Lilly from the Navy Chiefs at Center for Seabees and Facility Engineering for their generous pet food donation to the HSVC. The pair, along with their dogs Gizmo and Chance, donated approximately 50 cans of wet dog food, 15 large bags of dry dog food, milk bone treats, and more! Thanks to our amazing community, we will be able to continue providing pet food to those in need through our Pet Food Bank during the growing COVID-19 pandemic.
