Kyra's Journey to Happily Ever After

Nine-month-old Kyra first came to the HSVC as an owner surrender after her previous owner could no longer care for her. She was very shy when she first arrived at the Shelter and was only comfortable being handled by a select few of our Kennel Staff. However, over time Kyra slowly opened up and became a happy, sweet pup. Despite her young age, the gorgeous Tibetan Mastiff was already over 75 pounds and growing fast. We knew she would need a very special home with owners who had experience with her specific breed.

Mona's Happily Ever After

Looks like someone is enjoying getting the royal treatment! Mona, an 8-month-old Belgian Malinois, was recently surrendered to the HSVC after her previous owner could no longer care for her. Given her young age, breed, and smart personality, our staff quickly realized she had the potential to be a part of a rescue organization rather than a home.

Central Coast Snake Services is hosting a Rattlesnake Safety and Handling Workshop on Saturday, September 25th, from 3-6 pm. The workshop will be held at Rock Tree Sky Learning Center in Ojai and feature hands-on training to help others learn how to humanely relocate rattlesnakes.

HSVC Assists in Rescue of 200+ Neglected Animals

On the evening of 8/11/21, the Lockwood Valley Sheriff’s Station resident deputies received information that referenced significant animal neglect occurring in the 17000 block of Lockwood Valley Road.  The Lockwood Valley Sheriff’s Station investigated the allegations and coordinated a rescue mission for the neglected animals.

Thank You Dr. Kristi Gibbs and Veterinarian Dental Specialties and Oral Surgery!

Sweet girl Daisy was transferred to the HSVC through our rescue partners after being found as a stray in the Bakersfield area. During her intake examination by our veterinarian, her teeth were found to be severely decayed, several were not even pointing in the right direction! Due to the extensive dental work she required, Daisy was referred to dental specialist Dr. Kristi Gibbs (pictured above with Daisy) at Veterinarian Dental Specialties and Oral Surgery.
