The Humane Society of Ventura County was amongst the honorees at an event today at the Ventura County Board of Supervisor’s meeting. Public agencies, organizations and nonprofits from all over the county were on hand to be acknowledged during an hour-long ceremony honoring those who provided support and services during the Thomas Fire.

On hand from the HSVC was Franki D. Williams, Media and Marketing Manager, Jolene Hoffman, Shelter Director, Arlene MacSween, Assistant Shelter Director, and Greg Cooper, Director of Community Outreach. Ventura County Office of Emergency Services manager Kevin McGowan, former Ventura County Assistant County Executive Officer Matt Carol and Sheriff Geoff Dean represented the County.

Special thanks to Supervisor Steve Bennet’s office for organizing the public ceremony. “We accept this recognition on behalf of all our staff and volunteers,” said Hoffman about the event. “It was a team effort, everybody selflessly jumped into action to ensure that our shelter provided the services to those in need,” she continued.
