Help Us Reach Our Goal!

Dear friends, earlier this month we kicked off two campaigns to help cover the cost of extensive surgeries for 2 dogs in our care, Mimi and Dodger. Since that time both dogs have had successful surgeries and are already in the process of recovering here at the shelter and in a foster home. The two surgeries combined have cost the shelter $7,238.65, and with the support of our community we have already raised $1,606 of this amount.

It is our goal to raise an additional $5,722.65 by the end of the month. While this amount may seem overwhelming at first, in reality achieving this goal can easily be accomplished. Our community has shown their support of animals who have required medical care in the past and we know we can do it again! It would take just 1,144 of our community members to donate $5 to be able to pay these bills off in full! That’s less then 15% of those who receive our Weekly Email updates or fewer than ten percent of our friends on Facebook.

We hope those of you reading this request consider making a donation and sharing this cause with your friends! We know that many of you have already made a donation to support Mimi and Dodger’s medical care and we would like to thank you all for your support. We are so grateful to be a part of community who cares so deeply about animal welfare issues, including the everyday care of animals in need.

DODGER:

For many of our supporters, Dodger is a familiar face. Dodger, was first brought to the Humane society of Ventura County back in April after being found abandoned in Casitas Springs on the side of the road. While Dodger's past may always be a mystery, we are determined to give him the best chance for a successful future as possible. At this time Dodger is in a foster home recovering from a splenectomy, liver biopsy, and the surgical removal of two small masses, that was performed just this past Tuesday. Again, the wonderful staff at VetSurg in Ventura performed his successful surgery and a full recovery is anticipated.

MIMI:

Mimi was originally signed over in the field to our Humane Officers to help her get the care she needs. When Mimi first arrived at the shelter she was very frightened and it was clear that she would require medical care on two visible lumps on her underside. It was determined that the lumps were hernias and they required extensive surgery to be repaired. Mimi is back at the shelter recovering and is doing well and in very good spirits!
