Responsible pet guardians understand the costs associated with properly caring for a pet. From providing the basics such as food and vaccinations to the high price of medical care, it can really add up! Private, non-profit shelters such as the Humane Society of Ventura County, know all too well the financial costs associated with our animal companions and are constantly challenged in finding ways to cover the care of each and every animal that comes through our doors. 

Many people are surprised to find out the high cost of providing quality care to animals in need and most people want to help but aren't sure where to start. The number one way for you to help your local shelter is to be a responsible pet owner! Since the main cause of needy animals ending up in our care is due to irresponsible pet guardians, the majority of our services are created for the sole purpose of helping our community be better pet parents. Besides our adoption services we are passionate about spay and neuter and offer reduced rates to Ventura County residents. Humane Education is another top priority that teaches people of all ages how to be responsible pet guardians as well as our Humane Officers who actively promote animal welfare in the field on a daily basis.
