Maggie is a sweet female, yellow German Shepherd Dog mix and is an estimated 5 years old. Maggie came to the HSVC on Sep 30, 2014 as a stray. When she came in she was 90 pounds, she should be closer to 50 pounds judging by her height (she is much shorter than your average GSD).
Maggie needs special attention and finds comfort being around people at all times, because of this Maggie spends the day in the Visitor Center with our adoption counselors who take her for regular brief walks. She is on the mellow side, and she is currently greatly overweight. Due to this, she can only be taken on short walks before she gets tired, but she is much improved.
Staff is working closely with a local veterinarian to get Maggie’s weight back on track, she is losing about 4 pounds a week on average! She is motivated by food and staff found that there is nothing she loves more then green beans! Which is a great replacement for more traditional dog snacks and treats.
Maggie will need a special home with a family dedicated to getting her back to her optimal health. Because of her desire to be around people a home where people are present most of the day would be ideal. Please stop by the shelter and meet sweet Maggie! She has her own bed by the fireplace and would love a nice scratch behind the ears and a few kind words of encouragement.
