Five bucks can make all the difference for an animal in need. Before you start your weekend, won't you please consider making a small donation to help Matteo find the perfect home? It's easy, just click here!

Matteo arrived at the shelter nearly three weeks ago after being found by Humane Officer Vail in poor living conditions. There were four dogs surrendered to the HSVC that day; Officer Vail was able to speak with the previous owners and educate them about not only responsible pet ownership but the law when it comes to taking proper care of an animal. It was agreed by both parties that they would do best in the hands of the Humane Society and they were signed over right there on the spot. Matteo will be the last of the dogs brought in that day to find a new home. At six months old this gorgeous Belgian Malinois will require an experienced handler with confidence and love who displays natural authority and can keep up with the needs of this majestic breed.

Belgian Malinois are most commonly known for their skills used in police work and search and rescue missions. They excel at tasks that include the detection of odors such as explosives, narcotics, and tracking of humans. In fact it is Belgian Malinois who the Secret Service use to keep guard at the White House! Matteo was a candidate for the Search Dog Foundation but did not pass all the necessary tests. Though Matteo will need a job to do Malinois are notorious lovers and being included in all his families activities are a must!

Caring for a pet is a huge responsibility both emotionally and financially. While a pet can bring many years of happiness, knowing what you can can care for before you adopt an animal is the best way to ensure you get a pet that meets your needs and the animal gets an owner who can meet its needs. Please consider donating today to help animals like Matteo find the perfect home!
