POSITION SUMMARY

Performs services related to the health and well-being of animals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
2. Observe animals to detect illnesses and injuries and notify the Kennel Manager.
3. Assist the public in finding a compatible pet.
4. Assist in animal intake and cage transfers.
5. Feed and water all animals according to schedules.
6. Rotate all dogs throughout the day to the exercise yards.
7. Transfer animals to and from the clinic.
8. Keep kennels cleaned throughout the day.
9. Bathe and groom animals as required.
10. Follow procedures to keep our animals comfortable in inclement weather.
11. Inspect cages, pens and grounds for cleanliness and structural defects.
12. Restock supplies.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

1. Genuine compassion for domestic animals and wildlife.
2. Works well and communicates effectively with the general public, other staff members and volunteers.
3. Uses good judgement.
4. Flexible, capable of working both independently and as a member of a team.

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Adoption Counselor - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs services related to the health and well-being of animals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Understand, support, and articulate shelter policies to the public in a positive and effective manner.
2. Answer phones and direct incoming call appropriately.
3. Dispatch service calls to Humane Officers.
4. Receive public in a courteous and professional manner, providing complete and accurate information.
5. Maintain an esthetically pleasing and organized work environment.
6. Assist prospective owners in selection of animals for adoption and the preparation of adoption forms, and notify new owners of the free pet examination offer.
7. Maintain list of prospective pet owners and contacts them when desired type of animal is available.
8. Assist in the identifying owners of lost animals.
9. Admit incoming animals – fill out paperwork, vaccinate and deworm if necessary.
10. Maintain all files in a neat and orderly manner.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
