Chucky's Anniversary - Help Him Find a Home!

Long-term resident Chucky celebrated his one-year anniversary at the shelter on Friday, April 19th. While this is not our favorite milestone for a pup to reach, it is a milestone nonetheless. We want to take this opportunity to share our favorite things about Chuck and why he would be a great addition to any family!

Humane Officers brought Chucky to the HSVC last year as part of a humane investigation. The 3-year-old Bull Mastiff/Husky mix instantly captured the hearts of our staff with his loving personality. Since his arrival, Chucky has gotten close with our staff, volunteers, and several other shelter dogs. You can often find him hanging out in his play yard enjoying a long snooze or playing with his favorite toys.

"Chucky is the best boy and is currently one of my favorite dogs at the shelter! People find him intimidating because of his large size, but Chuck is a gentle giant who wants nothing more than to shower you with kisses. He truly is a small dog personality in a big dog body!" said HSVC Behavior and Enrichment Manager, Erica Jackson.

According to our Animal Care Staff, Chucky is essentially housebroken and loves his morning routine of going out to the bathroom and then going to his yard to nap. His favorite activities include squeaking his toys, sleeping on soft beds, and going on long strolls. Despite his large size, Chucky is on the lower energy level of the spectrum and would have just as much fun napping at your feet as he would romping around in the grass. Chucky also walks well on a leash and would lounge outside all day if he could.

You can help us find a forever home for Chucky! Stop by the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, any time during visiting hours Monday - Saturday between 10 am and 4:30 pm if you are interested in adopting him. For those not quite ready to open their home to a rescue pup, you can still help! We encourage you to like and share Chucky's story on Facebook and/or Instagram to help us spread the word. You never know who could see him and fall in love!
