Thank you for voting for the Humane society of Ventura County as best nonprofit in Ventura County! Ventura County is filled with many outstanding nonprofits and charities doing life changing work. The past 6 months have been an exceptionally challenging time for Ventura County and its residents. In response to the local disasters we saw many established nonprofits step up to the plate as well as welcomed many newcomers who were critical to the rescue and recovery process during and after the Thomas Fire. We are honored to be in the running with so many of our fellow charitable organizations working to improve the lives for all of us right here in Ventura County.

In the past year we have made many new friends and partners throughout the area who have shown us much kindness and generosity towards our cause. The health and wellbeing of animals within a community is a direct reflection of our community as a whole and it is with your support that we are able to improve the lives of animals in need. We encourage anyone who is interested in choosing to support the Humane Society of Ventura County to stop by for a visit! You will meet our knowledgable staff and volunteers who take great care in providing the best life for the animals in our care while they await their forever homes. We are very proud of our high adoption rates, as well as the success of the many other services we offer our community, many of which are free of charge.

For 86 years the HSVC has provided vital services to the community. Besides our adoption center we also have our Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic that alters not only the animals here at the shelter but for the public as well. Humane Education has always been one of our top priorities and our Humane Educator has visited thousands of classrooms, children and youth organizations, service clubs and various functions promoting the protection of and kindness to all living beings and our environment. Our badged and trained Humane Officers are responsible for alleviating the suffering of many animals throughout the county. Over 500 reports of neglect and abuse are filed each year. As we saw in December, the Humane Society alongside other emergency agencies are always involved in rescuing animals during fires, floods and other disasters. The Shelter is a busy place- we never know what it’s going to be like from day to day!

All of these services are made possible by our supporters. We receive no direct financial assistance from city, county, state agencies or National Animal Welfare Organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA. Fundraising events, grants, bequests, investments, supporters and your very important donations are our only sources of income. When animals need a safe haven, we are here for them. We truly appreciate your love, concern and support for our Shelter animals and the community outreach services the Humane Society provides.

Thank you to the Ventura County Reporter for recognizing all that the Humane Society of Ventura does for our community. We encourage everyone to cast their vote today! Voting ends Wednesday July 18th.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
