A Home for Spirit!

We are so excited to share with our supporters the good news on Spirit-a beautiful Husky who was in our care since the beginning of July of this year. Spirit first arrived as a stray and was severely underweight.

We featured Spirit's story several times in our Five Dollar Friday campaigns to raise the money to get her the care she needed. Our supporters pulled through and with the help of a local veterinarian and the love and care of our staff and volunteers, Spirit's health quickly began to improve.

The good news doesn't end there-after being at the shelter for over 3 months Spirit was adopted into the perfect home. The Morales family had recently lost a dog that had been adopted from the HSVC at a very young age. Anyone who has suddenly lost an animal knows how difficult it can be to recover from such a tragedy. Often times the pain of losing a pet keeps people from adopting again. In the case of the Morales family they knew that when the time was right, rescuing another dog was the best way to honor the animal they had lost.

On October 6th, after multiple visits, the Morales family adopted Spirit and has since reported that she fits in perfectly with their 4 kids and senior dog, Bunny. We are so grateful to everyone who believed in Spirit and helped make sure she received the best care in order to get her into a loving home, and of course to the Morales's for making her a part of their family!

How wonderful to hear that Spirit is recovered from her illness and now has her forever home! Congratulations to everyone involved — and wishing Spirit a long and happy life with her new family!
