Make a Difference this World Spay Day!

By Amy King

February 23rd, 2021 is World Spay Day! Since 1995, the fourth Tuesday of February has been recognized as a day to help increase awareness for the need for spay/neuter surgeries of animals in our communities. Sadly, millions of adoptable shelter cats and dogs are euthanized in the U.S. each year simply because there are not enough homes for them. This number is largely due to pet overpopulation caused by unplanned litters of puppies and kittens. Spaying and neutering can prevent these unnecessary litters and, as a result, offer more homes to animals already in shelters.
